ONYX

// THE ORIGIN

The Greek word onyx means 'fingernail'. The naming can probably be traced back to the resemblance of the white layers with the white moons and the white edges that fingernails have. In addition, old folk tales tell that onyx has a beneficial effect on skin, hair and nails.

Onyx belongs to the agate family. This semi-precious stone forms characteristic watermarks grouped in translucent waves. One of the most defining characteristics of the white onyx is the special appearance each piece is like a finger pressure different from the other.

// LOCATIONS

Onyx is found in Argentina, Brazil, Madagascar, Mexico, Uruguay, the United States and Pakistan.

// APPLICATION

Onyx is a soft material that is very exclusive. It is widely used by interior architects to give a space a luxurious look. Because the material is soft, translucent elements can be seen in the stone. This gives a very nice effect when light shines behind. The depth of the material is then clearly visible.
