START

In September 2019, the construction of the Feringa Building officially started, the new education and research center of the Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Groningen with labs, offices, teaching spaces and supporting facilities.

Feringa Building is a smart design with state-of-the-art facilities and earthquake-proof. Ballast Nedam is building one of the largest and most impressive laboratory buildings in the Netherlands and the university world on the University of Groningen (RUG) campus. This dream home for more than 1,400 students will soon be the place where people can contribute to important international research areas such as chemical engineering, (nano) technology, materials research and astronomy.

The design consists of a succession of three V-shaped wings. On completion, the project will take up a total volume of 350,000 m³ and a floor area of 64,000 m³.
