NEW PROJECT // Nieuw Bergen

We are pleased that we have been involved in the iconic new-build project Nieuw Bergen in the Eindhoven city center on behalf of Stam + De Koning Bouw and that we can focus on the supply and installation of the (ceramic) exterior facades.

Nieuw Bergen will be a unique part of the Eindhoven city center and will combine the values ​​of renovated and transformed buildings with new construction. The 29,000m² project of seven buildings comprises 220 homes, 1,700m² of commercial space, 270m² of urban agriculture and an underground car park.

Commissioned by SDK Vastgoed (VolkerWessels), MVRDV designed Nieuw Bergen in such a way that the seven towers reflect Eindhoven's status as a city of technology, design and knowledge. This results in a sustainable, pleasant and dynamic living environment for future residents.

The roofs are designed as traditional sloping roofs at an angle of 45 degrees and provide maximum sunlight for both the homes and the public spaces, creating an optimal living environment with significant savings on energy costs. This concept is an evolution of the urban strategy tool developed by MVRDV and is actively applied in cities in need of sustainable densification.

The seven individual buildings within Nieuw Bergen are different, but together form a family of buildings that fit into the existing context like a mosaic. A conscious choice for neutral colors and structured materials with subtle differences form the basis of the (ceramic) exterior facades that we provide. Other facade parts contain elements of stone, wood and concrete and the color palette varies from white to grey; and from smooth to rough.

The construction of Nieuw Bergen will start in early 2023. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2026. Project updates will be shared in the meantime via social media and our website.
