GRANITE

// THE ORIGIN

The word granite is derived from the Latin word granus, which means grain. It refers to the often grainy appearance of granite.
Granite is an acidic igneous rock composed mainly of three minerals: quartz, feldspars and micas.
The relative ratio of the minerals differs, but usually quartz is the dominant component.

Granite is a deep rock, which means that it is formed by the underground solidification of magma. Because granite has solidified at depth, the minerals have had time to form crystals during slow cooling.
