QUARTZITE

// THE ORIGIN

A quartzite is a rock that mainly consists of the mineral quartz. Quartzite often arose from (sedimentary) quartz sand that was initially compressed into sandstone. The individual sand grains can still be seen in such sandstone. Quartzite can also be further hardened by pressure and temperature or by deposition of binding gravel, after which the individual grains are no longer visible.

Depending on the purity of the sandstone, quartzites formed from it by metamorphosis sometimes have quite a lot of glimmer, usually in the form of silver-white muscovite. The glimmer leaves are oriented parallel to each other, just like in most metamorphic rocks.

Due to its dense structure, quartzite is often slightly translucent. Impurities from iron often cause the stones to show yellowish, brown and / or reddish colors. Normal quartzite sandstones and diagentic quartzite merge imperceptibly into each other.

// LOCATIONS

Granite is found all over the world in all kinds and colors. Part of our collection is presented in our Natural Stone Library. Is not what you are looking for? We have a huge range in our showroom, but will always find what you are looking for.

// APPLICATION

It is one of the most wear-resistant and easy to maintain stone types. It's because granite is made from a single piece of stone. It is durable and scratch resistant.

// OUR COLLECTION

In our NATURAL STONE LIBRARY you can find our collection. We are constantly looking for new materials to add to our collection. Our library is therefore continuously supplemented with new materials. Is not what you are looking for? We will search for you!
